A Note From Raas All-Stars

It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing the cancellation of Raas All-Stars XII. Amongst concerns for COVID-19 (Corona Virus) we do not feel it is a moral, ethical, or safe practice to host a competition at this time. We assure everyone we did not take this decision lightly. We examined avenues such as postponing the competition and hosting a virtual competition, however we opted against both of these, as we did not want dancers to return to their schools or campuses, solely to practice/record a video for our competition. We recommend that everyone practice social distancing and safe hygiene during this time.

We would like to take a moment to honor the top eight teams from this season: RU Raga, CMU Raasta, GW Raas, SLU Raas, UT Dirty South Dandiya, GT Ramblin’ Raas, UMD EntouRAAS, and Texas A&M Wreckin’ Raas. No amount of words can exemplify the passion, resilience, and determination these teams showed throughout the season. The number of hours, the number of practices, the number of late nights, simply put, these teams gave raas their everything. Though we are disheartened we were not able to host RAS this year, we hope teams were able to walk away from this season with memories that will last a lifetime.

We would also like to thank our beneficiaries and partners: Ekal Vidyalaya, Kalakriti Performing Arts, and MannMukti. Year after year these organizations supported RAS and made us into the national platform we are today. We would also like to thank our wonderful sponsors and media team: Patel Brothers, Alio Graphics, Insomnia Cookies, Choolah, Mawmba Productions, Parth Patel Productions, DJ Div, Srijay Kasturi, and Rohan Bharadwaj. We would also like to thank our amazing affiliates who have been helping us out since the fall, they have truly become a part of our RAS Family: Abhishek Karkar, Brinda Temburni, Devansh Kukreja, Parth Patel, Pooja Rathod, Sanju Teepireddy, Srijay Kasturi, and Tony Reyes.

Additionally, we would like to thank our bid competitions, associated competitions, and competing teams. You all have supported and trusted us throughout the last twelve years, and built RAS to what it is today. We promise you that in 2021, we will be back with a bang.

Finally, we would like to thank our board. Though we could not host the competition this year, every individual on this board put in countless hours and we would like to take a moment to recognize them: Alvin Ouseph, Anjana Ram, Anum Jiwani, Bansri Rawal, Devanshi Patel, Emmanuel Varghese, Heran Patel, Hiren Ajudia, Kaval Patel, Kavya Gandra, Maha Ghori, Milan Das, Neal Shah, Neej Patel, Neerja Patel, Paayal Jagada, Pranathi Gutala, Prerana Katiyar, Rahee Patel, Ravi Doshi, Sachi Belani, Shaurya Patel, Shefali Shah, Shivani Barrot, Shrinath Desai, Shyam Patel, Sonali Shah, Sonali Sitaram, Vaish Sridharan, Vanshi Jhumkhawala, and Vignesh Sastri. Moving forward, we will be issuing refunds, within the next three to four weeks, to everyone who purchased a ticket. Lastly, we would like to say we have faced adversity and hardship as a circuit together in the past, but further than any of that we have always found a way to come together as a family and persevere for the one thing we all love, dance. We will be back in 2021 and we hope to see you at Raas All-Stars XIII!
